Experimental Research Integrated Center (ERIC)

Created on August 30th 2002, it is a support sector of the Open Course of Parapsychology of Faculdades Integradas Espírita - FIES (Spiritualist Integrated Colleges).

All the sciences consolidate themselves through the continuous and systematical production of knowledge towards its area of influence. In the case of psi research, this production is limited by the lack of financial resources which curtails its researches. Nevertheless, despite this limitation, it has produced a considerable body of knowledge which is evidencing the existence of their study objects and brings light about the nature of them.
In this challenging context, ERIC keeps activities aimed at developing scientific knowledge, both theoretical and practical, which may contribute:

• With the objectives of the Parapsychology Course;
• With the institutional goals of FIES, specially with its human value philosophy;
• With the scientific advance of psi research;
• With society in general, exploring, emphatically, practical contributions.

Its specific goals are:

• Develop, in a systematical way, different types of theoretical and experimental researches, as well as experiences in Parapsychology;
• These studies search: a) the understanding of the phenomena (nature), b) its replication (proof) and c) explore the practical application of them (social objective);
• For that, it tries to integrate the quantitative approach (experimental) and the qualitative one (phenomenological);
• Stimulate the interdisciplinary and cross-cultural activities, seeking to integrate professionals from different areas, institutions and cultures;
• Develop scientific knowledge based on these researches;
• Publish theoretical and experimental articles in professional magazines and newspapers, in congresses and scientific events of Parapsychology and other areas of knowledge;
• Develop video-documentaries about the researches developed and related subjects, to facilitate the promotion of themes of the area;
• Develop extension courses, lectures and workshops at FIES and other institutions, publish articles in popular newspapers and interact with the general means of communication, aiming at integrating society with the developed scientific knowledge;
• Potentiate the obtainment of financial resources for researches and related activities;
• Make it possible for educational researches and supervised internships to the students of the Course of Parapsychology;
• Collaborate with the updating and integration of the professors of this course, stimulating them for the scientific research;
• Establish and maintain the network of contacts and partnerships with others institutions and researchers, both national and internationals;
• Promote the Course of Parapsychology in the means of communication possible and convenient;
• Promote scientific events in this area, aiming at the updating, integration and promotion of the work from different researchers and cultures;
• Based in the developed knowledge, offer, even if in an exploratory and experimental way, services to the community, aimed at developing possible practical applications of Parapsychology and, in this way, trying to contribute for the social development.

To achieve these goals and organize its activities, it counts with the following structure:

Applied Researches Center

Exploratory studies aimed at checking the possibility:

• Of the development of the anomalous capacities and/or of its perception;
• Of the improvement of the decision making and solving problems through anomalous capacities;
• Of the usage of these capacities for the complementary diagnosis (psi diagnosis), police and civil investigations (psi detectives) and the help to health treatments (distant healing, prevention and complementary help to chemical dependents).

Coordinator

Fabio Eduardo da Silva is a Parapsychologist (1994) by the Open Course of Parapsychology of the Faculdades Integradas Espírita (FIES) and has been a professor of this course since 1996, when he concluded the course of Consciousness Studies of FIES. Has been a facilitator of deep experiences and dynamics in Parapsychology since 1996. Psychologist by the Universidade Tuiuti do Paraná (2006), specialist in Superior Education and Neuropsychology by IBPEX (2005/2007). Professor in Post-graduation courses. Master Degree in Social Psychology at São Paulo University, where is conducting his PhD psi project. Member of the Parapsychological Association (PA).
